On The Arts
The arts: The arts contain the capacity to
communicate--non-verbally and verbally--across cultural and language barriers, and this occurs partly because of the expressiveness of FORM. For life-challenged youth making art is one way a person can create
their own future. I would like to hear Mr. Obama say something about the importance of the arts. With national leadership perhaps many of the arts will become less insular and less directed at a narrow group of
elites. Art directed at a group that is pre-prepared to accept it is in some sense academic. The arts promote a disposition for inquiry as opposed to only passing tests." |
